Gonzalez, 137, tried to beat the count but was in no condition to continue as the bout stopped officially at :57 of the 4th round of the Showtime Boxing main event.

In the co-main event 154 Lb. rising contender Jermell Charlo, 26-0, 11 KO’s, notched a razor close unanimous decision over Vanes Martirosyian, 35-2-1, 21 KO’s. In a chess match, Charlo, 165, was a touch longer, faster and more accurate than Martirosyian, 158. Final scores read: 97-93 and 96-94 twice for Charlo. Martirosyian, 28, scored the more telling body shots but Charlo, 24, drove home the flashier head shots in a close but debatable decision.
