Devon Alexander – Boxer: Alexander, 27, is a diesel-framed 5’8″ American boxer/puncher with excellent athleticism. The southpaw has good power, fast hands and excellent footwork. Alexander can a do a bit of everything: box behind a quick jab, slug, counterpunch or bodypunch. The St. Louis native is durable with a solid chin, good stamina and slick defense. On the downside, Alexander has laspes in focus, is stiff technically and is not a very accurate puncher. Alexander’s best wins are over champions: Marcos Maidana UD10, Lucas Matthysse SD10 and Juan Urango KO8.
Jesus Soto-Karass – Boxer: The rail-thin 5’9 1/2″ Mexican, Karass, 31, is a relentless pressure fighter with determination, heart and nastiness. Soto-Karass knows how to cut off the ring, swinging for the fences with good power once in striking distance. The brawler from California delivers bone shattering hooks to the rib cage, has an underrated jab and deceiving hand-speed. On the downside, Jesus has below-average defense, poor accuracy, ordinary athleticism. Soto-Karass’ best wins are over former champion Andre Berto KO12 and contenders Selcuk Aydin MD10 and David Estrada KO8. Expert Boxing Picks Prediction: Both of these guys are throwback fighters that will scrap anybody. Alexander is bigger, stronger, faster and younger but there is no quit in the gangster from North Hollywood “Reluctant” Soto-Karass. Alexander will use his footspeed, jab and sneaky right hook to batter the slugger but he will not stop the Mexican under 7.5 rounds on the total. Expect Alexander “The Great” to score a wide 100-90, 100-89 decision, possibly dropping Soto-Karass once in the process.
