Jermell Charlo – Boxer

Strengths: Tall 5’11” and explosive range fighter with good size at Jr. Middleweight (164-166 Lb. fight night weight). Stiff long jab sets the table. Punches with excellent handspeed and leverage with the straight right hand the most damaging weapon. Quick feet and reflexes, outstanding athleticism. Fights with a mean streak and looks to unload bombs whenever the opportunity presents itself. Difficult mobile target that fights tall with precise hand placement and sharp eyes. Durable and well-conditioned with a solid pair of whiskers.

Weaknesses: Still learning how to blend his offense and defense. Left hook and uppercut are still a work in progress. Bad temper makes him vulnerable to mistakes. Head is too stationary at times. Fights a little hyper when he could stay more relaxed. Does not target the body often enough.

Erickson Lubin – Boxer

Strengths: Long limed 5’9″ southpaw that likes to throw heavy leather. Believes in his power and sets his feet well to punch. Looks to throw booming right hook as much as possible. Knows how to finish a fighter when he has them hurt. Aggressive and quick handed with creative combinations. Good agility and ring movement. Fights with a good motor, high activity rate. Tough competitor that knows how to win and make in-fight adjustments.

Weaknesses: Gets hit too often for a high level fighter. Natural right-hander with a still developing straight left. Paws with right jab more than firing it with authority. Occasionally gets wild and leaves himself open with wide punches.  Headhunter that becomes predictable going upstairs.  Has yet to be tagged on the chin by a puncher like Charlo.

While Jermell’s twin brother Jermall gets all the accolades the truth is that Jermell could end up being the better twin. Jermall’s sterling knockout percentage has made headlines but Jermell can punch just as a hard and is a better defensive fighter. Lubin is dangerous as his “The Hammer” moniker indicates but still a relative novice that is making a huge jump up in class.
